In August, the University of Auckland English Language Academy (ELA) was pleased to host the annual English New Zealand Professional Development Workshop, welcoming more than 90 participants from member schools across New Zealand.
The workshop brought together teachers, academic leaders and professional staff from across the English language teaching sector to share expertise, exchange ideas and explore new approaches to teaching and learning. The programme featured presentations by ELA staff members Luke Coldham-Fussell, Joel Archer, Neil Cowie, Aalia Parween and Camille Liao, who shared insights and practical strategies drawn from their own professional experience. Their contributions helped make the day a valuable learning opportunity for colleagues from across the sector.
Events such as this highlight one of the key strengths of English New Zealand: its commitment to professional development and the sharing of best practice. By bringing together educators from a diverse range of member schools, workshops like this provide opportunities to learn from one another, strengthen teaching practice and support innovation across the sector.
English New Zealand plays an important role in maintaining quality assurance standards, promoting continuous improvement, providing professional development opportunities, and advocating on behalf of the English language sector. Through its accreditation requirements and commitment to best practice, English New Zealand helps ensure that international students studying with member schools receive a high-quality educational experience.
ELA is proud to be a member of English New Zealand and to contribute to initiatives that support quality, professionalism and collaboration across New Zealand's international education sector.
