The FIFA World Cup has brought excitement to ELA, with students and staff gathering in a dedicated World Cup viewing room to follow the tournament.
Decorated with the flags of all participating countries, the room has become a popular meeting place where students can support their teams and enjoy the international atmosphere. This year, the match schedule has worked particularly well, with many games taking place during NZ daytime hours, allowing students and staff to watch matches between classes and activities.
The tournament has also inspired football-themed classroom activities, giving students opportunities to practise their English through a topic they enjoy.
The World Cup has created a real buzz on campus, encouraging friendly competition and helping students from different countries connect through a shared love of football.
“The World Cup has been a wonderful way to bring our school community together. It has created excitement across campus, encouraged students to connect with people from other cultures, and provided authentic opportunities to use English both inside and outside the classroom.” — Daniela Ritchie, ELA Senior Teacher
